The deadline for registering for Fq9, the Finite Fields conference to be hosted by CSI in July, is June 15, so many registrations were received in May.

May 27-29 2009: Nigel Boston (CSI) visited Kings College, London and University of Newcastle to collaborate with number theorists and group theorists.

May 25-29 2009: Jens Zumbragel (CSI) visited the University of Oldenburg, Germany as a guest of Prof. Dr. Andreas Stein, Institute for Mathematics. He gave a talk on Tuesday, May 26, entitled "Klassifikation und kryptographische Anwendungen endlicher einfacher Halbringe" (classification and cryptographic applications of finite simple semirings).

May 26-27 2009: Nigel Boston (CSI) visited Professor Charles Leedham-Green (Queen Mary, London) to collaborate on group theory.

On May 25-26 2009 Fernando Hernando (CSI) visited the Department of Algebra at the University of Valladolid and gave a talk on May 26 entitled: "Proof of a Conjecture on the Sequence of Exceptional Numbers, Classifying Cyclic Codes and APN Functions".

On May 15th & 21st 2009 Nigel Boston (CSI) co-organised the Pseudocodewords group, CSI, with Mark Flanagan, Vitaly Skachek, and Jens Zumbraegel.

The Claude Shannon Institute Workshop on Coding & Cryptography took place on
May 18th & 19th 2009 at the Boole Centre in Cork.
